A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking an Intellectual Property Litigation (Patent) Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate should have experience in patent litigation. Preferred backgrounds include an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, materials science, physics, or an equivalent degree, with an advanced degree or industry experience considered a plus. Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Handle patent litigation matters, including case analysis, legal research, and drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Conduct discovery, including document review, drafting discovery requests and responses, and taking and defending depositions.
  • Assist with pre-trial and trial preparation, including witness preparation and development of trial strategy.
  • Collaborate with clients, co-counsel, and experts to develop and execute case strategy.
  • Analyze patents, technical documents, and prior art to assess validity, infringement, and enforceability.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience in patent litigation.
  • Preferred undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, materials science, physics, or an equivalent field.
  • Advanced degree or industry experience is a plus.
  • Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in the Patent Bar preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Technical background or familiarity with technology concepts.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
