A law firm in Minneapolis is seeking a skilled and experienced Employee Benefits Litigation Associate Attorney to represent employee benefit plan clients in various legal matters. The ideal candidate should possess significant litigation experience, superior research and writing skills, and the ability to manage a high volume of dockets.

 

Job Details:

  • Represent employee benefit plan clients in all phases of matters related to delinquent employer contribution claims, benefit denials, subrogation and intervention claims, benefit claim appeals, and employer withdrawal liability claims.
  • Appear in state and federal court, managing ongoing case work such as drafting demand letters, initiating litigation, preparing motions, taking depositions, and handling post-judgment collections.
  • Assist with responding to subpoenas and requests for information from plan participants and employers.
  • Contribute to the representation of employee benefit plans, including Taft-Hartley health, retirement, annuity, and apprenticeship plans.

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of litigation experience, preferably gained in both state and federal court.
  • Superior research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and a high volume of dockets.
  • Experience with court hearings, trials, and depositions is ideal.
  • Strong preference for experience in ERISA litigation.
  • Graduation from a nationally recognized school with superior academic credentials.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Additional experience in employee benefits, employment law/discrimination work, or labor law is preferred.
  • Previous federal court clerkship is preferred.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Law Degree (JD) from an ABA accredited law school.
  • License to practice in Minnesota or timely admission.

 

Skills:

  • Superior writing skills.
  • Excellent judgment.
