Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance on employment tax issues to clients
  • Advise on state and federal payroll reporting requirements and correction procedures
  • Handle IRS Forms W-2, 941, and 940
  • Manage employee retention credit matters
  • Handle state and federal employment tax audit and appeal procedures
  • Interpret fringe benefit taxation and exclusion rules
  • Navigate interstate and international employment tax matters
  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Draft legal documents, memos, and opinions
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Manage competing priorities and deadlines

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of employment
  • LLM in Tax preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employment tax in a law firm, in-house, or a Big 4 Accounting firm setting

 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Familiarity with state and federal payroll reporting requirements
  • Experience with IRS Forms W-2, 941, and 940
  • Knowledge of employee retention credit matters
  • Proficiency in state and federal employment tax audit and appeal procedures
  • Understanding of fringe benefit taxation and exclusion rules
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
