The ideal candidate will have experience in patent preparation and prosecution and should be registered with the USPTO and the State of Ohio Bar. Duties:

  • Conduct thorough legal research and stay updated with developments in intellectual property law.
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in fields related to Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering.
  • Evaluate and respond effectively to office actions from the USPTO.
  • Participate in client interviews and provide legal advice concerning IP strategy and protection.
  • Assist in intellectual property litigation cases, preparing legal documents, and supporting senior attorneys in court proceedings.
  • Engage in other projects that require a deep understanding of intellectual property law.
  • Collaborate with other team members to enhance client services and firm reputation.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Must be registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Admission to the State of Ohio Bar; registered patent agents will also be considered.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of the technical fields related to the practice, particularly biochemistry and chemical engineering.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering.

Certifications:

  • Registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Ohio.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle complex information and present it clearly and concisely.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
