Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people, and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work. We are currently seeking a Deputy Legal Director for Legal Education and Public Engagement to join our team in one of our office locations: New York, NY; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Los Angeles, CA; or Washington, DC. This is a full-time, senior-level position with a salary range of $150,000 - $200,000 annually. Responsibilities:

- Oversee the operation of the Legal Help Desk, providing information and resources to the public on discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and HIV status.
- Supervise the research and publication of legal education materials and collaborate with the Communications Department.
- Lead the National Pro Bono Relationships program, building partnerships with law firms to expand the impact of Lambda Legal's work.
- Serve as a senior leader in the Legal Department, supporting department-wide work and projects.
- Promote a team-oriented culture of high performance and continuous improvement, valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Mentor and support department members, modeling inclusive leadership and collaboration.

Qualifications:

- required.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in a legal setting, with at least 10 years of exceptional team leadership.
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse teams.
- Collaborative approach to work and ability to work well with colleagues in other departments.
- Familiarity with multi-state legal practice and experience overseeing compliance with legal and ethical obligations.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues to various audiences.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities and stakeholders with grace and good humor.
- Awareness of and commitment to the concerns of the LGBTQ+ and HIV communities.
- Prior experience working on behalf of LGBTQ+ people and/or people living with HIV is highly desirable.
- Experience working with historically marginalized communities is also desirable.
