H1: BART GORDON FELLOWSHIP FOR IMMIGRATION ADVOCACY AT THE CHILDREN'S LAW CENTER OF MASSACHUSETTS H2: ONE-YEAR ATTORNEY FELLOWSHIP POSITION FOR IMMIGRANT CHILDREN IN LAWRENCE, MA Organization: The Children's Law Center of Massachusetts (CLCM) Position: Bart Gordon Fellowship for Immigration Advocacy Location: Lawrence, MA Salary: Competitive with legal services scales Benefits: Generous PTO leave, 100% employer paid individual medical and dental insurance, employer match on retirement contributions, student loan repayment assistance program, and professional development opportunities Overview: - CLCM is a not-for-profit legal services program that provides legal advocacy for indigent children and youth, students with disabilities, and children committed to state human service systems - Fellowship is for one year, with possibility for a second year - Position focuses on providing immigration legal aid to children in Lawrence, MA and surrounding communities in Essex County - Purpose is to encourage careers in legal services and provide civil legal aid to low-income communities with barriers to accessing the justice system Job Functions: - Provide advice and representation in cases such as asylum, special immigrant juvenile, VAWA, U Visa, and DACA - Represent immigrant youth in collateral matters like education, mental health, and insurance - Conduct trainings for youth, families, sponsors, and providers on the rights of immigrant youth - Collaborate with Lawrence-based providers and other legal aid programs for systemic advocacy to benefit the child immigrant community Qualifications: - Must be admitted to the Massachusetts bar or its equivalent - Fluency in both spoken and written Spanish is required - Experience providing legal services to immigrant children, including human trafficking victims - Demonstrated commitment to serving low-income children is preferred - Ability to advocate in a collaborative style with diverse backgrounds - Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and work collaboratively - Excellent writing, research, and oral advocacy skills To Apply: - Send letter of interest, resume, and legal writing sample to - CLCM is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace Note: All contact information has been removed for security reasons.
