This role is responsible for providing legal guidance and thought leadership to the business, with the overall objective of providing legal support, advice, and guidance to the business. The successful candidate for this role will have a thorough understanding of the business, combined with a strong knowledge of laws and regulations for the geographies in which the company operates. This is a full-time, hybrid remote position based in New York with a salary range of $211, - $316,, along with competitive employee benefits such as medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k), life, accident, and disability insurance, and paid time off packages. The Senior Lead Counsel I will be responsible for providing legal counsel to the business, participating in strategic initiatives, and providing subject matter expertise and interpretations of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and industry practices. They will also advise business management on legal matters impacting the business and objectively evaluate business proposals by applying institutional knowledge and risk appetite against industry standards, widely accepted business practices, laws, rules, and regulatory guidelines. The successful candidate will collaborate across internal lines of business and control/support functions to achieve coordinated and efficient outcomes on matters of common interest, as well as participate in business planning and development initiatives. They will also proactively identify, evaluate, and contribute to the appropriate management of legal, regulatory, and reputational risk by collaborating with ICRM & Risk, following relevant legal developments, and participating in internal projects. The Senior Lead Counsel I will be responsible for managing day-to-day legal activities as a subject matter expert in their area of responsibility and providing advisory services to business partners. They will also monitor the management of complex legal issues and transactions, escalating when necessary. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships. They will also possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and relationship management skills. To be considered for this role, candidates must have at least 7 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services, and a . They must also have a strong knowledge of international laws, regulations, and practices, and stay abreast of the regulatory and legal environment, internal policies, and industry trends that impact the business. Experience with complex deals and demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions is also required.
