- Passionate individual with a solid understanding of Subchapter K related to hedge fund structures, financial products, and tax adjustments.
- Responsible for identifying complex tax issues and providing tax analyses for hedge fund clients and their affiliates.
- Performs detail-level review of tax workpapers, allocations, and tax returns.
- Researches and advises on transactional and tax planning opportunities with the support of the Washington National Tax group.
- Builds and maintains relationships with clients and coordinates with client contacts to gather information.
- Trains, mentors, and supervises staff at various levels.
- Attend required national and sector-specific training for professional development.
- Co-locates in person 2-3 days per week in a hybrid work model.
- 5+ years of experience in tax planning or preparing/reviewing tax work papers and returns.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Subchapter K, financial products, wash sale and constructive sale rules, and aggregate allocations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Experience managing projects, including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and billing.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- Active CPA, licensed attorney, enrolled agent, or certifications such as CFA or CFP preferred.
- Advanced degree and previous experience at a Big 4 or large CPA firm also preferred.
- Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting a plus.
