Your Role as Corporate Counsel:

As the Corporate Counsel at Appspace, you will report to the Chief Financial Officer and provide legal support for the company's contract operations, including Legal, Compliance, Data Privacy, IP, and M&A. You will also work to optimize our legal services by implementing processes, practices, and systems that improve efficiency and control costs.

A Day in the Life of Corporate Counsel:

As a key member of our legal team, your responsibilities will include:

- Providing legal advice and recommendations to support business operations and customer-facing groups in meeting their objectives while staying within the company's risk tolerance.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, software licensing agreements, and other key agreements, while also advising on contract disputes.
- Developing strategies for handling legal issues in a creative and business-centric manner and implementing processes that address risk and allow for flexibility and agility.
- Driving programs to enhance in-house efficiency, standardization of processes, cost controls, and performance tracking.
- Evaluating and making suggestions for legal services technology to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Identifying legal risks and creating a mitigation plan by understanding legal issues and providing practical legal advice to stakeholders.
- Conducting legal research, analyzing and summarizing legal documents, and providing legal advice on routine issues impacting the business.
- Acting as a legal resource for corporate governance matters and participating in the development and implementation of governance policies and procedures.
- Providing legal and strategic business advice to ensure that commercial agreements are consistent with internal policies and processes.
- Managing relationships with outside counsel and advisors.
- Building internal knowledge management processes and capabilities for the legal and operational teams.
- Supporting M&A engagements, including analysis and execution.
- Advising on contract provisions such as confidentiality, privacy, compliance, and insurance.
- Leading contract workflow processes and managing contract templates to create efficiencies.
- Coordinating billing with external firms and assisting with maintaining the legal budget as needed.

What You'll Need:

- A JD degree and at least 7 years of professional legal experience, with a preference for law firm experience.
- Strong financial acumen and excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience building, running, and managing legal programs, projects, and processes.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to set objectives, drive progress, and produce results.
- A strong understanding of corporate and commercial law.
- Experience working with international legal matters and foreign entities preferred.
- In-house experience at a technology company is a plus.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.
- A demonstrated interest in legal tech, legal operations, and finding innovative ways to scale the legal function.
- A client-service focus and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
