Summary:

The Circuit Court of Kalamazoo County is looking for an Attorney II – Staff Attorney to join their team and provide legal support for the Administrative Division. The Staff Attorney will attend court hearings and trials, including bailiff duties in jury trials. This position is responsible for conducting legal research, drafting briefs and memorandums, reviewing pleadings and documents, and managing and tracking complex cases.

To qualify for this role, applicants must possess a Law license, a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, and must be a member of the Michigan State Bar Association. In addition, 1-3 years of related work experience practicing law in government or family law is preferred.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct legal research, evaluations, investigations, and case preparation
- Draft briefs, stipulations, responses, and memorandums
- Review pleadings, briefs, jury instructions, and other documents in complex cases
- Attend court proceedings and serve as bailiff in Circuit Court jury trials

- Perform related work as required
