Summary:

The VP – Marketing Counsel will provide legal support to the business on new marketing initiatives, Closed End Lending products, and provide expertise to branding and non-platform marketing teams. The role will report to the SVP – Senior Counsel: Marketing and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations in all marketing activities. The position offers flexibility and the option to work from home or in one of our offices.

Responsibilities:

• Lead legal support for various marketing initiatives, including sweepstakes, co-venturer initiatives, and branding initiatives.

• Provide legal advice to marketing teams on broad-based initiatives and client campaigns.

• Review marketing collateral and provide guidance for Closed End lending products across all communication channels.

• Collaborate with outside counsel, client attorneys, and cross-functional teams on complex issues.

• Maintain expertise on PayPal and Venmo’s loyalty programs and provide legal marketing guidance to cross-functional teams.

• Advise client teams on advertising and credit card laws.

• Keep up-to-date with industry and legal developments to inform business strategies.

• Respond to marketing compliance questions and support regulatory examinations.

• Develop and revise marketing-related procedures and guidelines.

• Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate (JD) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience.

• Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to marketing and financial services.

• Strong understanding of business systems and processes.

• Experience managing complex initiatives in a matrix environment.

• Excellent communication, relationship building, and collaboration skills.

• Strong judgment and ability to balance business and legal considerations.

Salary Information:

• Grade/Level: 12

• Salary range: $130,000 - $210,000 USD Annual

• Eligible for annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

• Actual compensation offered may vary based on experience, skill level, or knowledge.

• Salaries are adjusted based on market in CA, NY Metro, and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Must be willing to undergo drug testing, background investigation, and fingerprinting.

• Must satisfy requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

• New hires must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before being eligible to apply for other roles.

• Employees at level 8 or above must have at least 18 months of continuous service before applying for other roles.
