2020 Main Street, Suite 900, Irvine, California, 92614, United States of America, BDO USA, LLP As a SALT Senior Associate, Unclaimed Property, you will be responsible for researching and analyzing complex tax issues related to unclaimed property compliance and consulting. This unique role offers the opportunity to use your tax and/or accounting skills in a consultative capacity, working with sporadic data sets to provide valuable insights and recommendations to clients. You will also have the opportunity to work with leadership on marketing, networking, and business development, as well as staying up-to-date on relevant unclaimed property statutory, regulatory, and case law changes. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance, along with two or more years of prior experience in tax, financial statement auditing, or forensic accounting. A CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) certification is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word, is required, and experience with Power BI, Alteryx, and other software is preferred. In this role, you will: Conduct research on complex tax issues related to unclaimed property compliance and consulting, utilizing appropriate sources of information. Work with clients and state authorities to ensure compliance with unclaimed property statutes and regulations. Prepare annual escheat returns and identify appropriate exemptions/deferrals. Participate in developing policy and procedures, addressing internal controls, and representing clients on unclaimed property audits and voluntary disclosures. Utilize software such as FSI Track, tax research databases, and GL systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) in the completion of assigned tasks. Manage client expectations and deliverables, and assist with client refund review process. Actively participate in relevant trade organizations and public speaking events to stay current on industry developments. Train and supervise SALT Experienced Associates, Associates, and Interns on relevant software and evaluate their performance. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel. Manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously, and assist with consultative selling strategies. Utilize your superior analytical and research skills, along with excellent communication and organizational skills, to successfully meet project deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
