Job Title: Staff Attorney (SSVF)

Organization: Legal Aid Service of Broward County (LASBC)

Location: Plantation, Florida

Experience: 0-2 years

Salary: $60,000-$65,000 (commensurate with experience)

Organization Overview:
- Non-profit pro bono law firm in Southern Florida
- Mission to provide free civil legal advice, representation, and education to the disadvantaged of Broward County
- More than 125 employees, including 50+ attorneys
- Services and resources provided for a wide range of civil legal issues impacting health, safety, and self-sufficiency
- Focus on expanding access to justice, identifying community needs, and challenging systems, laws, and policies that negatively affect the underserved and marginalized

Position Description:
- Seeking an experienced attorney to work with Veterans in obtaining Veterans Benefits
- Responsible for handling Veterans discharge upgrades, housing issues, family issues, and other small civil matters
- Immediate opening

Qualifications:
- Active membership in the Florida State Bar
- 0-2 years of experience in law, including providing civil and administrative legal services to Veterans and their families
- Experience serving low-income communities preferred but not required
- Awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the veteran population
- Ability to handle a large caseload and work in a highly stressful environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual abilities a plus
- Willingness to work beyond a minimum seven-hour workday, including evenings and weekends

Salary and Benefits:
- Exempt, full-time position
- Competitive salary ranging from $60,000-$65,000
- Salary may be significantly higher based on experience
