Job Summary:

MEM, a leading workers' compensation insurance company, is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney to provide efficient and skilled legal representation in workers' compensation litigation. This position will also offer legal advice on complex matters and contribute to the management of partnering relationships with internal clients.

Job Responsibilities:

- Manage high exposure disputes and litigation, including trials and appeals
- Provide legal advice on complex matters such as conflicts, discovery, medical treatment, and more
- Appear in state courts and before Workers Compensation Division administrative law judges
- Conduct depositions and other discovery of witnesses
- Independently create and present legal defense strategies
- Negotiate settlement of workers compensation claims
- Conduct legal research and prepare written opinions
- Contribute to the management of partnering relationships with internal clients

Requirements:

- Juris Doctor Degree, licensed in Illinois and Missouri
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in insurance law and/or workers' compensation law
- Strong understanding of legal principles and litigation guidelines
- Ability to manage complex legal issues and provide sound legal advice
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and research skills
- Experience with depositions, trials, and appeals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other legal software
