A law firm is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney for their Providence, RI office.

Job Overview:

The Senior Litigation Attorney will manage all aspects of litigation matters, from inception through trial, with minimal supervision. This role involves formulating case strategy, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and representing clients in court proceedings.

Duties:

  • Participate in the firm’s professional activities, including client intake, trial preparation, etc.
  • Handle litigation matters from inception through trial with minimal supervision.
  • Draft complex pleadings and motions and argue discovery and dispositive motions.
  • Formulate and develop case strategy; advise clients on risk mitigation and pre-suit resolution options.
  • Conduct research, interview clients and witnesses, and manage other details for comprehensive case management.
  • Manage the discovery process and supervise junior attorneys and staff with document review projects.
  • Mediation AAA and other arbitration experience are preferable.
  • Perform complex legal research; experience with Westlaw and other legal research tools is required.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of litigation experience in state and federal courts.
  • Bachelor’s degree and . Degree.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and state and federal court procedures.
  • Significant courtroom experience.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters on a confidential basis.
  • Licensed to practice and in good standing in RI.
  • A high degree of initiative, mature judgment, and discretion.
  • Organization and time management skills.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Rhode Island State Bar.

Skills:

  • Ability to participate as first or second chair in trials.
  • Experience with drafting complex pleadings and motions.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership and supervision capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ideal candidates will possess a portable business book with at least $200,000.
