As a Trial Attorney, you will be responsible for providing competent, ethical, and diligent representation of clients in all assigned cases. Our ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience as an attorney and be a member in good standing of the State Bar in the state where the position is located. So, what exactly does a Trial Attorney do at Farmers? - Handles cases involving moderate to severe injuries and/or damages, including preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs, attendance at hearings, conferences, interviews, trials or arbitrations, and other necessary tasks for proper representation of clients - May assist other attorneys with assigned cases - Functionally supervises other attorneys who are assisting with cases - Consults with Claims Departments on insurance policy questions and legal aspects of personal injury claims - Keeps supervisor informed of work done for clients and any issues encountered - Maintains and updates computerized litigation support systems - Performs other duties as assigned Physical Actions and Environment: - Job duties typically take place in a climate-controlled office environment, with some exposure to outside conditions and travel - May involve lifting up to 25 pounds and frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving Education and Experience Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent required - Bachelor's degree required - Law school degree and good standing with State Bar required - At least three years of experience as an Attorney, including civil jury trial experience or equivalent dispositive ADR experience - Must be able to handle cases with moderate to great exposure and/or complexity with minimal supervision Special Skills Required: - Public speaking and ability to handle high case loads in adversarial or confrontational situations - Driving Benefits: - Competitive salary based on experience, qualifications, and location - Bonus opportunity based on company and individual performance - 401k - Medical, dental, and vision insurance - Health savings and flexible spending accounts - Life insurance - Paid time off - Paid parental leave - Tuition assistance Locations: - Reston, VA - Washington, DC - Alexandria, VA - Falls Church, VA - Manassas, VA - Arlington, VA - Fairfax, VA - Leesburg, VA - Ashburn, VA - Woodbridge, VA - Sterling, VA - Chantilly, VA - Centreville, VA - Vienna, VA - Herndon, VA - McLean, VA
