# Court Clerk - Magistrate In-Court Clerk Organization is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Court Clerk to fill the role of Magistrate In-Court Clerk. The position offers a full-time schedule and a competitive wage of per hour. ## Responsibilities The Magistrate In-Court Clerk will be responsible for performing administrative and secretarial duties for assigned Magistrate Court judges. Specific duties may include: * Preparing and maintaining court schedule and calendars for assigned judges and related court personnel * Preparing and maintaining daily, weekly, and long-term court calendars of hearings, trials, and all related court proceedings and deadlines * Ensuring daily court schedule is publicly posted * Preparing and maintaining schedules and appointments for individual judges, as assigned * Pulling, preparing, and distributing files of scheduled cases and related legal documents to judges, attorneys, and other court personnel * Answering inquiries and providing information on scheduling and other court proceedings to the public, attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, and other interested and affected parties * Transcribing and preparing legal documents including, but not limited to, court orders, memorandum decisions, hearing notices, findings, calendars, correspondence, and related documents * Coordinating court-ordered mediation activities * Providing administrative services for Problem Solving Courts * Taking and transcribing dictation for court orders, decisions, correspondence, and related documents * Preparing marriage licenses and scheduling marriage appointments * Opening, logging in, and distributing mail * Preparing travel vouchers * Monitoring and maintaining office supplies * Performing similar duties for other judges, as needed * Performing all work duties and activities in accordance with County and Court policies, procedures and safety practices ## Qualifications In order to be considered for this role, candidates must have: * At least one (1) year of In-Court experience, preferred * At least one (1) year of Court Clerk experience * High school diploma or GED equivalency * Advanced secretarial or business office training, preferred * Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a Judicial secretary preferred or experience in a legal environment * Typing speed of at least 50 wpm with accuracy * Knowledge of Court and related judicial system operations, processes, procedures, methods, terminology, and policies * Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local Court statutes, codes, and ethical standards * Knowledge of customer service procedures, techniques, and objectives * Knowledge of operation of standard and specialized office equipment * Knowledge of operation of a multi-line telephone system * Knowledge of operation of a personal computer and job-related software * Knowledge of preparation and maintenance of records, files, reports, court calendars, and schedules * Knowledge of transcription and preparation of court and legal documents, findings, orders, correspondence, and English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition * Knowledge of current office practices and procedures * Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with fellow workers and members of the public to provide public service of the highest quality and quantity * Ability to follow oral and written instructions * Ability to prepare and maintain court schedules and calendars * Ability to maintain and prepare files, records, reports, databases, and correspondence * Ability to review files and determine their content and completeness and perform follow up work as needed * Ability to prepare court and legal documents, following a prescribed format to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements and standards * Ability to take and transcribe dictation * Ability to operate standard office equipment, a personal computer, and program applications appropriate to assigned duties * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, the public, supervisory personnel, attorneys, court personnel, local elected and appointed officials, and other County employees under occasionally stressful conditions * Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing * Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines * Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner * Ability to perform time management and scheduling functions, meet deadlines, and set project priorities * Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a calm and professional demeanor, under stressful or adversarial conditions * Ability to maintain individual and Court confidentiality * Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions * Must successfully complete a background investigation through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) * Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively on the telephone and in person * Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review, prepare, and organize documents and files * Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate a personal computer and standard office equipment * Sufficient personal mobility, agility, strength, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to lift up to 25 pounds, sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time, and work in an office environment ##
