What Is the Opportunity?

As a Claim Counsel, you will effectively manage assigned BSI claims, typically of moderate severity or complexity, including Employment Practices Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, and Fiduciary Liability claims. You will handle new claims as well as existing claims due to the absence or departure of a claim professional. This position will handle a variety of claims throughout the country.

Key Responsibilities:

- Analyze, investigate, and resolve BSI claims with moderate supervision
- Prepare and present reports for management
- Retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel
- Communicate with underwriting on significant claim exposures
- Identify and coordinate recovery opportunities
- Travel to attend mediations, settlement conferences, and more
- Refine policy interpretation and coverage analysis skills
- Negotiate settlements and review relevant agreements
- Support underwriting marketing efforts
- Monitor marketplace conditions and conduct research
- Obtain and maintain required adjusters’ licenses
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Strong decision-making and negotiation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships

What is a Must Have?

- Bachelor’s Degree
- Juris Doctorate Degree
- Properly licensed, registered, and in good standing to practice law
- 2+ years of relevant legal experience
