Job Overview:

The Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney will be crucial in handling a diverse caseload of commercial litigation matters. They will be responsible for representing clients in various stages of litigation, from initial pleadings through trial and potentially appeal. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic, client-focused environment.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of commercial litigation matters from inception to resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex legal issues.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
  • Prepare witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on case strategy and tactics.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on litigation-related matters.

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of commercial litigation experience.
  • Significant experience in taking and defending depositions.
  • Hearing and some trial experience is essential.
  • Admitted to practice law in Washington, DC.
  • Admitted to practice law in Virginia and/or Maryland is preferred.
  • Strong academic credentials from an accredited law school.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, client-centric environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex legal issues and multi-faceted cases.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar.
  • Admission to the Virginia Bar and/or Maryland Bar (preferred).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to handle changing priorities and deadlines.
