Organization is seeking an Assistant Attorney General for its Joliet office to handle child support enforcement cases and other litigation in northern Illinois. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for trial work and experience handling a high volume of cases.

Job Responsibilities:

• Represent the Department of Healthcare and Family and the Department of Human Services in child support enforcement cases
• Handle personal injury lien recoveries, estate liens and claims, excess assistance recoveries, administrative review actions, bankruptcy cases in federal court, and miscellaneous matters
• Appear in court several times a week
• Manage cases during each call and conduct formal evidentiary hearings when settlement is not reached
• Prepare pleadings and responses to motions
• Research legal issues
• Maintain good working relationships with court officials and agency staff
• Interact with the families needing child support enforcement services

Qualifications:

• Must be licensed in Illinois
• Excellent litigation and negotiation skills
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for trial work
• Experience handling a high volume of cases
• Ability to travel

Salary:

Salaries are commensurate with the number of years of practice as a licensed attorney and start at $76,008.
