Job Description Summary:
- Opportunity to deliver top-quality legal services for a Fortune 100 insurance company
- No billable hours required
- Seeking candidate with experience in Bodily Injury Commercial, Commercial Auto, Commercial Property, Complex Commercial, Premises Liability, Products Liability, Property Damage, Trucking Defense, Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist, and Wrongful Death
- National team with approximately 40 offices through six regions across the United States
- Represent clients under both commercial and personal lines insurance policies independently as lead counsel
- Expected to maintain a highly productive case volume with a mix of cases varying in complexity, severity, product lines, and specialized concentrations
- Utilize technology and collaborate with support staff for efficient case management
- Stay updated on changes to the law, technology, and other aspects of the legal and insurance industries
- Develop and learn new concentrations as required by NTD business needs
- Provide factually, legally, and analytically sound opinions on case valuations
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with key associates within Office of the Chief Legal Officer and claims partners
- Serve as a mentor for junior attorneys and NTD staff
- Report to Managing Trial Attorney

Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate trial advocacy skills independently or as part of a team
- Work efficiently and proactively in accordance with Nationwide Trial Division (NTD) standard methodology guidelines and client expectations
- Requires minimal managerial oversight and guidance from NTD Leadership
- Effectively utilize technology and work with support staff for efficient case management
- Stay updated on changes to the law, technology, and local rules
- Possess and consistently perform with subject matter expertise and trial advocacy skills required for all NTD concentrations held
- Provide factually, legally, and analytically sound opinions on case valuations
- Build and maintain professional relationships with key associates within the legal and insurance industries
- Communicate effectively and proactively with clients, claims, and NTD
- Serve as a mentor and role model for junior attorneys and NTD staff

Typical Skills and Experiences:

- Maintains an active license in the state where the position is located
- More than 8 years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation
- Significant litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
- Highly collaborative and capable of working with staff and other attorneys on-site and remotely
- Significant negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical and legal skills
- Resourceful and creative problem solver
- Computer savvy with a solid understanding of basic software
- Capable of adapting to changes in the law and technology in the law and court systems
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Decision-making ability and leadership skills
- Familiar with private practice of law policy and ethical rules of the state where the position is located
- Must also follow all corporate and NTD policies and procedures

Working Conditions:
- Generally, a normal office environment, but may work from home as needed
- Frequent travel and occasional overnight travel
- Extended hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the profession
