The candidate will serve as a Domestic Violence Major Case Attorney. Handle cases that involve high-impact IPV offenders as a secondary assignment. Report directly to the Domestic Violence Unit Chief and the Trial Division Chief. Work in close collaboration with the Witness Aid Services Unit to secure services for IPV survivors. Collaborate with the Violent Criminal Enterprises Unit, Crime Strategies Unit, Trial Division Central, the Executive Assistant DA for Gun Violence Prevention, as well as dedicated partners throughout the NYPD and other law enforcement agencies. Help to make victims of serious IPV feel safe and hold their abusers accountable. Focus on recovering firearms involved in IPV cases. Receive additional training in trauma-informed techniques, as well as intelligence utilization strategies that focus on the overlap between IPV and other forms of violent crime. Must have 4+ years of prosecutorial experience or an equivalent amount of experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV).
