H2: Legal Aid for Survivors of Sexual Assault - Make a Difference in the Lives of Survivors Organization: Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC) Department: Legal Aid for Survivors of Sexual Assault (LASSA) Job Type: Full-time, grant funded position Description: Are you passionate about advocating for the rights of survivors of sexual assault? LASSA is seeking a highly motivated Staff Attorney to join our team and provide legal assistance to eligible clients. As a statewide network of non-profit organizations and agencies, LASSA is dedicated to serving and supporting survivors of sexual assault. As a Staff Attorney, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of survivors by providing high quality legal assistance, conducting outreach and clinic activities, and representing clients in legal proceedings. You will also have the chance to work with a diverse team and collaborate with partner agencies to eliminate social injustices. Responsibilities: - Provide high quality legal assistance to eligible clients, including in-depth counseling and advice throughout the course of complex litigation. - Analyze legal and societal problems and devise strategic plans to eliminate social injustices. - Conduct intake interviews, confirm eligibility for services, and check for conflicts of interest. - Write complaints, petitions, motions, memos, and briefs on behalf of clients. - Communicate with third parties, media, and the public to advocate for clients and the TLSC mission. - Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, trials, and appeals. - Travel to designated counties in Texas for outreach, clinics, and legal representation. - Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: - . Degree - Two (2) years of law experience assisting victims of sexual assault. - Licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas. - Current knowledge and expertise of the law and legal system, with a focus on issues impacting survivors of sexual assault. - High-level organizational skills. - Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. - Strong time management and attention to detail. - Proficiency with LegalServer (TLSC's case management system) and Microsoft Office. - Understanding of grant requirements and reporting needs. - Commitment to promoting inclusion, equity, and cultural responsiveness. - Ability to travel to out-of-town locations and work with clients in a patient, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental manner.
