Job Title: Associate General Counsel - Legal Advisor for Provider Solutions Team
Salary Information: JD; current license to practice law; 9 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Salary range is competitive and will be discussed during the hiring process.
Experience: 9 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; experience with health insurance law, federal regulations, compliance, and contract law preferred; experience with provider agreements and working with providers preferred.

Location: Preferred office locations include St. Louis, MO, Mason, OH, Indianapolis, IN or Louisville, KY. Other Anthem office locations may be considered. This position will take part in Elevance Health's hybrid workforce strategy which includes virtual work and 1-2 days in office per week.

H2: Legal Advisor for Large-scale Health Insurance Projects

Overview:
- Provide legal guidance and recommendations for initiatives and projects developed in response to clients' overall objectives and needs.
- Support the provider solutions team in several states for insured business.
- Work as a strategic partner with assigned clients and provide legal advice and guidance on business strategies or various corporate initiatives.
- Assist with evaluating legal risks and propose alternatives to minimize risk.
- Proactively assist provider contracting staff with legal issues that arise during contract negotiations.
- Review and draft contract language changes to protect the company's interests.
- Support development and roll-out of new provider contract templates.
- Assist in early resolution of provider disputes to avoid litigation.
- Support value-based contracting and negotiation of shared savings or risk arrangements.
- Utilize contract management software to facilitate tracking of custom provisions and documentation of required approvals.
- Review provider communications to ensure compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
- Assist with provider network filings and interact with regulators as needed.
- Prepare legal documents as needed.
- May support the development of paralegals on the legal team.
- Report any identified business exposure and associated risks to management.
- Work autonomously and manage work independently, coordinating with other legal colleagues or subject matter experts as needed.
- Provide statutory/regulatory interpretation and review proposed legislation affecting the company's interactions with providers.
- Support Elevance Health's Hybrid Workforce Strategy and comply with vaccination requirements for certain patient/member-facing roles.

Key Requirements:
- JD and current license to practice law.
- 9 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure.
- Experience with health insurance law, federal regulations, compliance, and contract law preferred.
- Experience with provider agreements and working with providers preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving competencies.
- Commercial experience preferred.
