Job Shift Day Job ID 4977 The Tax Manager, Tax Automation & Innovation at BDO is responsible for collaborating with clients and team members to implement tax automation tools. This role also involves marketing, networking and business development as directed. The Tax Manager, Tax Automation & Innovation will assess client tax departments and determine the best areas in need of automation across tax data, process, technology, and workforce. They may work on client engagements to optimize or implement existing tools, custom BDO tax/data solutions, or 3rd party vendor solutions. The Tax Manager, Tax Automation & Innovation is also responsible for running engagements from proposal and scoping to overseeing design, building, testing, and deployment, as well as providing ongoing maintenance and consulting support to clients post-implementation. Other responsibilities may include collaborating with multiple offices within the firm to assist other business line engagement teams and supporting the development of new internal tax solutions or providing consulting and training on existing internal tax processes, technologies, and applications. Salary Information: - National Range: $76,000 - $160,000 - NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $76,000 - $160,000 Job Title: - Tax Manager, Tax Automation & Innovation Experience Information: - Five (5) or more years of experience with technology or tax systems, required - ASC 740 tax accounting, consulting, or income tax compliance, preferred - Leadership experience, preferred Responsibilities: - Qualifies viability of prospective clients or projects and identifies opportunities to expand current business - Understands the full picture of a clients tax functions and develops unique strategies aligned with business objectives - Leads planning or project delivery meetings that may include proposal delivery and solutions workshops or training - Assists in managing client expectations and requirements - Gathers client requirements, estimates fees, and prepares high level scoping and proposed solutions for client proposals - Drafts clear and compelling proposals and business cases - Identifies opportunities to streamline internal standards and processes for the practice - Communicates complex technical items to target audiences so that relevant issues are clearly understood - Demonstrates advanced project and process management skills; can effectively manage multiple large scale, complex projects at once - Gains exposure to setting strategy, establishing methodology, and determining the appropriate work plan for a given client by working with Tax AI leadership - Takes ownership of risk mitigation and quality assurance, with support from leadership - Understands proper scoping and works with Tax AI team as appropriate to ensure client engagement terms are followed - Executes standard project setup procedures, tracks billing and basic project economic management, including delivering project on time and within budget by utilizing project management and client service skills - Collaborates with project teams and clients to understand the big picture when developing and implementing projects - Can construct a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative business case for clients to justify the investment and commitment of management time coupled with financial and human resources - Clearly identifies clients business requirements and expectations at the beginning of a project or engagement and communicates to staff - Communicates status to the clients in line with the frequency agreed upon; promptly responds to requests and gathers pertinent information when applicable - Helps clients navigate complex issues - Schedules and manages the workload of Associates and Senior Associates - Reviews work prepared by Associates and Senior Associates and provides review comments Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree, required;
