Organization: The Door Job Title: Supervising Attorney - Pro Bono Experience Level: 3+ years in immigration law Education: Juris Doctorate Salary Range: $82, - $85, Job Type: Full Time, 35 hours/week Job Shift: Day Job Category: Legal Overview: - The Door is a comprehensive youth development organization providing free services to nearly 11,000 New York City youth each year. - Our mission is to empower young adults to reach their full potential by providing a diverse and caring environment. - We offer a range of services including health care, education, mental health counseling, legal assistance, career development, and more. - Our Legal Services Center (LSC) provides direct legal services to youth in areas such as immigration, public benefits, family law, and housing. - The LSC's pro bono program partners with law firms to work on individual cases and advocacy and impact litigation. - The Supervising Attorney will focus on the LSC's pro bono and immigration practices at the Door's Bronx Youth Center. Responsibilities: - Represent young people ages 12-24 in immigration matters. - Supervise junior attorneys, fellows, and paralegals. - Provide expert legal support and technical assistance for pro bono attorneys. - Assist with legal education efforts, including planning and providing workshops. - Set up and administer clinics for law firms. - Identify and evaluate potential cases for pro bono attorneys. - Facilitate internal and external referrals to education, health care, and other services. - Document and report service delivery to ensure compliance with funding requirements. - Represent The Door before courts, agencies, and other external stakeholders. - Other responsibilities as assigned by Managing Attorney and/or Co-Directors. Qualifications and Requirements: - . degree and admission to New York State Bar. - At least 3 years of experience in immigration law, including SIJS, asylum, U and T visas, or comparable field. - Interest in a comprehensive approach to meeting the needs of young people. - Knowledge of and ability to apply positive youth development principles. - Creative thinker with superior communication skills. - Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently. - Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse populations. - Supervisory experience preferred. - Professional proficiency in Spanish or French is required.
