About The Innocence Project:
- Works to free the innocent and prevent wrongful convictions
- Guided by science and grounded in anti-racism
- Has helped to free or exonerate more than 200 people
- Advocates for structural change and advances the innocence movement

About the Position:
- Oversee the core goal of freeing the innocent by managing a team of legal professionals
- Coordinate and occasionally draft amicus support on important innocence issues
- Supervise a clinical program in partnership with Cardozo Law School
- Responsible for overall management and supervision of the team
- Report directly to the Chief Program Officer

The Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced attorney with a sophisticated understanding of the criminal legal system
- Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring a team of legal professionals
- Collaborative and strategic, with experience working in a cross-departmental environment
- Excellent project management and organizational skills

Essential Job Functions:
- Manage the post-conviction litigation practice, including hiring, training, and supporting staff attorneys
- Collaborate with other departments on operations initiatives and case management
- Work with the Intake Department to identify and review new cases
- Represent the Innocence Project at conferences and serve on commissions
- Manage relationships with members of the Innocence Network

Qualifications & Experience:
- Active attorney license with a minimum of 15 years of trial and/or appellate experience in criminal law
- At least 5 years of post-conviction and/or innocence litigation expertise
- Highly sophisticated understanding of the criminal legal system
- Skilled manager with at least 5 years of experience supervising lawyers and non-legal staff
