A law firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intellectual Property Patent Agent for their Washington, DC, office. The ideal candidate will be involved with all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution.

Job Overview:

• Position: Mechanical Engineering Intellectual Property Patent Agent

Duties:

• Drafting patent applications related to mechanical engineering fields such as engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspensions, control systems, consumer products, and medical devices.
• Participating in all stages of patent prosecution, including drafting responses to office actions and conducting examiner interviews.
• Conducting prior art searches and patent landscape analyses.
• Providing technical expertise and guidance on patent matters to attorneys and clients.
• Collaborating with attorneys and inventors to strategize and develop patent portfolios.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 2 years of experience drafting mechanical patent applications.
• Current status as a registered patent agent.
• Strong collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
• Excellent academic credentials.

Preferred:

• 2 years of experience in patent drafting.
• Strong writing skills.
• Professional recommendations.
