The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, a license to practice law in North Carolina, and a minimum of five years' experience in a Workers' Compensation law firm or insurance defense firm. Responsibilities: - Represent injured plaintiff-employees in their NC workers' compensation cases at all stages of the process - Provide legal advice and representation to clients during pre- and post-litigation, discovery, settlement negotiations, and beyond - Assist clients in obtaining benefits under the NC Workers' Compensation Act - Litigate cases at the Deputy Commissioner, Full Commission, and Court of Appeals levels - Draft pleadings, discovery, orders, and motions - Negotiate settlement agreements and releases/job resignations on behalf of clients - Draft briefs for the Industrial Commission and Court of Appeals - Oversee and manage case managers and paralegals Qualifications: - Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school - License to practice law in North Carolina - Minimum of five years' experience in Workers' Compensation law or insurance defense - Experience with complex Workers' Compensation claims - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment - Exceptional analytical writing and verbal communication skills - Outstanding interpersonal skills - Self-motivated and able to work without supervision - Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task - Extensive knowledge of medical issues in contested and accepted Workers' Compensation claims - Proficient in Microsoft Windows/Office and ability to learn new software - Experience with Litify software is preferred Benefits: - Competitive compensation - Medical, dental, and vision insurance - Base life insurance paid by the firm with supplemental options - Short and long-term disability paid by the firm - 401(k) with matching contributions - Paid time off, holidays, and volunteer time off - Reimbursement for education and gym memberships.
