A law firm in Minneapolis is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience in patent litigation, preferably with a background in electrical or mechanical engineering. The ideal candidate will possess strong academic credentials, exceptional research, writing, and communication skills, and be capable of taking and/or defending depositions, brief writing, and oral motion practice before the courts. Bar admission is required.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research on patent law, case law, and precedents.
  • Draft legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, and responses.
  • Prepare for and participate in hearings, trials, and depositions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal team members.
  • Analyze and evaluate patent infringement claims and defenses.
  • Assist with case strategy development and implementation.
  • Manage and organize case files and documents.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of patent litigation experience.
  • Background in electrical or mechanical engineering (BSEE/BSME preferred).
  • Additional trademark and/or copyright litigation experience is a plus.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Experience in taking and/or defending depositions, brief writing, and oral motion practice before the courts.
  • Bar admission required.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred.

 

Certifications:

Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
