The ideal candidate will have experience in Consumer Protection, Commercial Litigation, or Constitutional Litigation. The job involves coordinating investigations into high-profile matters, drafting legal documents, and representing the OAG in civil matters. The salary for this position ranges from $6, to $10, per month, with opportunities for advancement. Job Title: Assistant Attorney General II-IV Organization: Office of the Attorney General Location: San Antonio, Texas Salary: $6, - $10, (Monthly) Experience: - One year of full-time experience as a licensed attorney in Consumer Protection, Commercial Litigation, or Constitutional Litigation - Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas - Case management experience or experience managing briefs with federal and/or state courts Responsibilities: - Provide legal advice, counsel, and assistance to clients and management - Participate in administrative and evidentiary hearings and in the discovery process - Conduct legal research and investigations - Draft legal documents, including but not limited to petitions, motions, pleadings, orders, briefs, discovery, and memoranda - Represent the OAG in civil matters before state or federal district and appellate courts - Analyze complex factual and legal issues and develop evidence through witness interviews, depositions, and other discovery - Advise management on factual and legal issues - Assist in drafting bills and amendments for legislative consideration - Provide technical guidance to less tenured staff and may help train others - Maintain knowledge of legal principles and practices relevant to Consumer Protection - Testify at hearings, trials, and legislative meetings - Maintain a high volume of litigation cases and investigations Qualifications: - Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree (.) - Licensed as an attorney by the State Bar of Texas - Knowledge of law and legal principles, practices, and proceedings; and of state and federal laws, regulations, and rules - Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines - Strong oral and written communication skills - Ability to exercise sound judgment and effective decision making - Experience with legal research, writing, and analysis; conducting investigations; and mediation and negotiations - Proficiency in using a computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval Preferred Qualifications: - Judicial Law Clerk experience - Experience drafting briefs - Familiarity with document review platforms - Ability to work collaboratively and within a larger organization To Apply: To apply for this position, please submit an electronic application through CAPPS Recruit.
