Over 100,000 Legal Jobs Consistently
March 06, 2010
It seems jobs are falling off the face of the Earth on a daily basis and salaries being cut left and right, there is little hope in the job market for many job seekers. If you are in the legal sector, you should not give up hope in obtaining your new legal career. LawCrossing consistently has 100,000 legal careers available to the public on average on a monthly basis. No matter how bad the job market is, LawCrossing has found a way to deliver legal jobs despite the downward trend of the economy. During an average week, Law Crossing posts between 8,000-9,000 new legal jobs from all across the country. Law Crossing updates the legal careers found every day of the year.

According to U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics from January of 2008 - January of 2010 the unemployment rate fell from 10.0% to 9.7% in January, and non-farm payroll employment was essentially unchanged. Employment fell in construction, transportation and warehousing, while temporary help services and retail trade added jobs. In January, the number of unemployed persons decreased to 14.8 million, and the unemployment rate fell by 0.3% to 9.7%.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureaus of Labor Statistics there were an estimated 760,000 attorneys currently working in the United States. Within the next decade that number is expected to increase by 13%. If you are an attorney, you are in a growing field despite such recessive periods. Yes, you will experience job fluctuation like any other career field but the prospect of you becoming hired is also greater than the majority of the other career fields.

During recession periods many companies may experience legal problems that need the assistance of an attorney. While attorneys do not profit from others misfortune, this is just the nature of the business. Some job seekers will have more difficulty finding jobs then those who are in a different type of work. With attorney numbers increasing by the year, there will be stiff competition for legal positions.

JD Journal reports that 26% of legal firms will look to expand their legal hires in the quarter. This is good news for all who seek legal employment. Also, with 1/4 of legal firms looking to increase their legal personnel in various practices, this would be an excellent time for an attorney to make a move to a different legal firm.

In Feb. 2009, JD Journal reported that the legal services industry cut payrolls and in January the legal industry lost 1,300 jobs, according to the US Department of Labor. In 2004, this was the last time so few were employed in the legal job sector. The following month, March of 2009, the legal sector lost 4,200 jobs. In December of 2009, the legal sector again experienced a hit with the loss of 2,100. Despite the loss of legal jobs left and right, LawCrossing has proven to be a beacon of light for the legal job seeker.

LawCrossing has reported more than 2,800 insurance attorney jobs, 2,000 healthcare attorney jobs, 500 environmental attorney jobs, 400 immigration attorney jobs and 300 government attorney jobs currently over the last several months.
