The Aerospace Corporation has provided independent technical and scientific research, development, and advisory services to national security space (NSS) programs since 1960. We operate a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) for the United States Air Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). We also apply more than 55 years of space systems experience to projects in the national interest for civil agencies like NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, commercial companies, universities, and international organizations.
Aerospace has participated in virtually every NSS program since the beginning of the space era. Our highly skilled technical staff focuses on ensuring the success of every mission and on developing the most effective, innovative, and economic space-related hardware and software in the world. Our insight and involvement in space programs have significantly reduced the risk of launch failure and increased both satellite endurance and performance. Due to the expertise of our personnel, Air Force launch vehicle and satellite performance successes have been unmatched by any other space program.
Aerospace is headquartered in El Segundo, California, with other locations throughout the U.S. Aerospace employs approximately 3,500 people, two-thirds of whom are members of the technical staff.
