Hiring Criteria

Hanson Bridgett LLP follows the set of hiring criteria outlined below.

Superior academics, excellent writing skills, good analytical skills, energetic, Bay Area ties and a sense of humor. We actively seek applicants with diverse backgrounds.

Pro bono

Hanson Bridgett is dedicated to providing pro bono services to individuals, organizations and businesses that cannot afford the cost of high-quality legal representation. Our attorneys handle a wide range of pro bono litigation and transactional matters with the same drive and commitment we bring to all of our client work.

We believe pro bono work benefits our firm as well as the deserving clients we serve. Our associates may receive credit toward their annual billable-hour requirements for up to 150 hours of pro bono work. In 2014, our attorneys contributed 5,700 hours of pro bono work.

Hanson Bridgett LLP Awards and Recognitions

For the fourth year in a row, Hanson Bridgett was ranked as one of the top corporate philanthropists in the Bay Area according to the San Francisco Business Times. We are one of only four law firms to make the list.

The Recorder selected Hanson Bridgett as one of 10 leading Northern California pro bono practices.

We received the Community Partner in Sustainability award from the San Francisco Business Times at their "Beyond the Check" awards.

We feel that a workforce that reflects the needs and interests of our clients and a work environment that provides wide opportunity for people with varied backgrounds are important goals. Hanson Bridgett's commitment to diversity begins with the law schools where we seek to recruit diverse classes of summer associates and support the needs of minority students through the Gerald Marcus Fellowship, which was established in 2002. We also help students from diverse backgrounds prepare for professional careers through the firm's annual 1L Interview Workshop, now in its twelfth year. Within our firm's daily activities we have joined the effort to provide greater opportunities reflected in the BASF's Goals and Timetables and the No Glass Ceiling Initiative and undertake pro bono activities that protect the rights of underrepresented minorities.

Summer associate program

Hanson Bridgett actively recruits talented, energetic, diverse law students who share the same vision as the people who make up our firm. Our firm's main recruiting source for entry level attorneys is our summer associate program.

We conduct interviews during the fall recruiting season at regional law schools to fill between 4 to 5 summer associate positions. We purposefully keep our summer program small to maintain the cooperative and supportive environment consistent with our firm's culture. A relatively small summer program also enables our summer associates to work in all the major practice areas of our firm and to get to know the people who make up Hanson Bridgett.

Everyone Loves LawCrossing

LawCrossing was probably the best legal board I have used. I liked the layout and it was user friendly. I tried to use another job board, but it was not user friendly and was kind of a pain, whereas LawCrossing was easy to use to find jobs. I really liked it. I would certainly recommend this site and service to my colleagues.
