Advice to law firm management:
More feedback and open communication with Jr associates besides the one review day per year. Many have no idea if they are performing up to par. Some will understand that "no news is good news" (maybe) but many are looking to know for sure if they are doing well or need to improve.
Pros:
Amazing depth of knowledge on all things IP law, great place to learn. Most partners are great to work with, have only encountered two that were less than great but still tolerable - i.e. pretty much the norm for any place of work. Flexible work schedule. The "billed" hour requirement is awesome, and allows for great life-work balance. First years are given reduced quota to account for lower efficiency. Staff and admin are awesome too.
Cons:
As with any place of work, there are some people who are less fun to work with. For some, it can be a deal-breaker. Knobbe allows you to control who you work with, to some extent, so the problem can be avoidable. But some get stuck with the one or two problem partners.

Advice to law firm management:
Offer more training to management. Provide more opportunities for growth within the company.
Pros:
Billable hours are lower than all other big law firms. The people are interesting and the work is nice. Everyone is collegial.
Cons:
There is not a lot of room to grow within the firm. Management needs to work on improving.

Advice to law firm management:
This firm should appreciate its workers more and hire new management to take care of promotions and worker reviews. I also feel as though we could have used a few more attorney's to help out on more difficult cases.
Pros:
I really enjoyed my stay at this firm and enjoyed the fact that it was only a 20 minute commute from my home. I also really enjoyed the interesting cases that I got to help out on.
Cons:
There is a real lack of advancement and progression in terms of upwards mobility at this firm. I talked to a few attorneys' that told me they were upset that they have not received a promotion in over 5 years.
