A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their team in Merrillville, IN. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of litigation experience and must be licensed to practice in Indiana. The candidate should be proficient with Lexis and MS Office and demonstrate strong legal research and analytical skills. They should be able to proactively work both independently and as part of a team and exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for:

Job Overview:

  • Drafting pleadings, motions, orders, discovery, and legal memoranda.
  • Preparing and responding to written discovery.
  • Conducting legal research.
  • Taking and defending depositions.
  • Reviewing client documents, drafting case evaluations, and preparing status report correspondence.
  • Assisting with and participating in mediations, pretrial settlement conferences, and court appearances.
  • Interacting directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff.
  • Managing a substantive caseload.
  • Navigating hearings in state and federal court with poise and professionalism.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of litigation experience.
  • Licensed to practice in Indiana.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • State Bar admission in Indiana.

Skills:

  • Proficiency with Lexis and MS Office.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
