Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Patent Associate Attorney with 2+ years of prosecution experience, specifically in video processing and codecs. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, with additional experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI being advantageous. This role requires a strong knowledge of video coding standards and managing patent portfolios effectively.

Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution, including preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Manage patent portfolios and provide strategic guidance on portfolio development and management.
  • Conduct patent analysis/opinions of counsel and participate in inter-part reviews (IPRs) as needed.
  • Collaborate with inventors and internal stakeholders to identify patentable inventions.
  • Assist with patent litigation support and other intellectual property-related matters as necessary.
  • Stay updated on relevant legal and technical developments in the field of patents.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • 2+ years of prosecution experience at a law firm or in-house.
  • Experience with portfolio management.
  • Familiarity with video coding standards.
  • Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is preferred.
  • Admission to the USPTO is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to evolving legal and technical landscapes.

Education and Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • Graduate-level experience or an advanced technical degree is a plus.
  • Admission to the USPTO is a plus.
