Description:

The Debt Relief Project is seeking a Managing Attorney to lead our legal services team in reducing or eliminating debt for our clients. This includes consumer, medical, and student loans. The Managing Attorney will supervise attorneys representing clients in the United States Bankruptcy Court and state courts. They will also maintain an active caseload as time permits.

Responsibilities:

- Develop project goals and plans in collaboration with Practice Groups and organizational leaders
- Adapt and achieve project goals through leadership and supervision of staff
- Coordinate client services with other management team members
- Actively participate in Practice Groups and organizational efforts to improve client services and operations
- Lead efforts to develop and maintain relationships with the private bar, community organizations, legal aid organizations, public officials, media, and funders
- Perform other duties as required

Requirements:

- Proven commitment to legal services for the poor
- Commitment to professionalism
- Excellent persuasive abilities
- Excellent legal writing skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Experience in bankruptcy and consumer debt issues strongly preferred
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities
- Strong, self-motivated, and creative
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively with community groups
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience preferred
- Must be licensed to practice in Ohio
- Ability to speak Spanish or other languages is highly desirable but not necessary

Salary and Benefits:

The Managing Attorney will receive a salary of $98,150 or more depending on experience. We also offer an excellent benefits package. As the needs of our organization and community change, the Managing Attorney may be asked to lead different projects in the future.
