Job Summary:

Glynn County is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Law Clerk in the Juvenile Court. This position involves conducting legal research and advising judges on legal issues. The Law Clerk will also assist in drug court and attend trials and hearings as needed. The minimum starting salary for this position is $45, per year.

Essential Job Functions:

- Conduct legal research on cases and analyze law sources
- Listen to arguments of counsel and determine their merit
- Advise judges on legal issues in support of various cases
- Prepare drafts of orders for judges and set hearings
- Monitor inventory of department equipment and supplies
- Provide budgetary input for the department
- Maintain current resource materials and update legal research tools
- Prepare various forms, reports, correspondence, and other legal documents
- Receive and review various legal documents and materials
- Operate a computer and utilize various programs to enter, retrieve, and modify data
- Communicate with various individuals and organizations to coordinate work activities and exchange information
- Travel to other counties as needed
- Stay current with applicable laws and regulations and attend training sessions and workshops as needed

Minimum Education, Training and Experience:

- Juris Doctorate degree required
- 5 months of previous experience and/or training involving legal research
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered

Required Licenses:

- Valid Driver's License
