The Office of the Attorney General represents the State of Florida and its agencies in both state and federal courts and has common law duties to protect the public's interest. Application Deadlines and Requirements: The deadlines for application are as follows: - Summer: January 31 (extended to March 1 for 2024) - Fall: June 30 - Spring: September 30 It is recommended to apply early as applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Requirements for application include an application form, resume, letter from advisor or university, and official transcript (unofficial accepted). 2nd and 3rd year law students may be expected to provide a writing sample at the time of interview if selected. Available Internship Opportunities: Internships are primarily available for law student interns and are located in various divisions and bureaus within the Civil Litigation Division. Students must be able to intern a minimum of 20 hours per week or for a period prescribed by their college or school. To be considered for an internship, students must submit a completed application packet and meet the application deadline. Students who are not receiving academic credit are welcome to seek internship opportunities through participation in law school sponsored programs such as Pro Bono Programs, Law School sponsored clinics, and Law School Paid Stipend programs. Documentation must be provided. Background Check and Certification: Applicants must consent to a preliminary background screening, including a criminal background check on the FCIC/NCIC database. This information will be reviewed to determine the applicant's fitness and ability to work in the Office of the Attorney General. Applicants must certify that all information provided is true, correct, and made in good faith. Affidavit of Good Moral Character: Applicants must provide an affidavit of good moral character, stating that they have never been a witness in a criminal case or convicted or pled guilty to any offense other than minor traffic violations.
