A law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney for their Houston, TX office.

Job Overview:

The Insurance Defense Attorney will primarily focus on bodily injury defense, construction, and other insurance defense matters. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team. They should demonstrate a commitment to meeting clients' unique needs and exceeding expectations.

Duties:

  • Handle insurance defense matters with a focus on bodily injury defense and construction-related cases.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to develop case strategies.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Attend hearings, oral arguments, and other court proceedings.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
  • Prepared and presented reports to clients regarding case developments.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience practicing law, with a significant portion focused on insurance defense.
  • Prior experience in insurance defense is required.
  • Must be highly proficient in handling civil cases through trial, including taking depositions, attending hearings, and negotiating settlements.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Current license to practice law in Texas; additional licensure in other states is a plus.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas; additional state licenses are advantageous.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
