Position Summary:

The Tax Manager in the Hedge Fund Tax practice at Deloitte Tax LLP is responsible for identifying complex tax issues and providing tax analyses for a variety of hedge fund clients and their affiliates. This role requires a deep understanding of Subchapter K related to hedge fund structures, financial products, and related tax adjustments, as well as familiarity with wash sale and constructive sale rules and aggregate allocations. The Tax Manager will also be responsible for detail-level review of tax workpapers, allocations and tax returns, as well as performing research to advise on transactional and tax planning opportunities. They will work closely with client contacts to gather information and coordinate and communicate with the team. The Tax Manager will also have the opportunity to train, mentor, and supervise junior staff and attend training sessions for their own development.

- Perform research to advise on transactional and tax planning opportunities

The Team:

The Deloitte Tax LLP Hedge Fund Tax practice works with clients in the Investment Management industry to address a range of critical issues brought on by regulatory changes, competition, globalization, advances in technology, and the changing demands of their investors/customers. The team is comprised of over 1,400 professionals providing tax services to a broad range of Investment Management companies, including hedge funds, private equity, family offices, mutual funds, and more.

Qualifications:

Required:
- Ability to work in a hybrid model, co-locating in person 2-3 days per week
- 5+ years of experience in tax planning or preparing and reviewing tax workpapers and returns
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field
- Familiarity with Subchapter K, financial products, wash sale and constructive sale rules, and aggregate allocations
- Experience in a fast-paced, team environment
- Project management experience, including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and billing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 25% on average, based on client needs and location
- Active accreditation such as CPA, attorney, enrolled agent, or certifications such as CFA or CFP

Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM
- Previous experience at a Big 4 or large CPA firm
- Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting
