Summary:

The Senior Legal Counsel at Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS is a global position that supports the wider Global External Innovation and Business Development legal team. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for advising the global JLABS team on a variety of commercial agreements and transactions with external companies and institutions, as well as managing relationships with external collaborators and drafting agreements to support the JLABS model. The position requires a minimum of 10 years' legal experience at a top national or international law firm or in-house legal department, as well as the ability to provide outstanding legal services to business partners in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment. Experience in the life sciences industry is preferred, and a law degree and license to practice as a lawyer in a J&J Innovation location is required. The base pay range for this position is $160,000-$276,000, with eligibility for an annual performance bonus and participation in company employee benefit programs. Responsibilities:

- Provide legal support to Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS, a global life science network for innovation
- Advise on a variety of commercial agreements and transactions with external companies and institutions
- Manage relationships with external collaborators, suppliers, and outside counsel
- Draft agreements to support and implement the JLABS model
- Participate in leadership meetings to provide legal support to the global JLABS team
- Work on external collaborations and projects initiated by the wider Global External Innovation or JBD businesses
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Global Head of JLABS and her global leadership team

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 10 years' legal experience at a top national or international law firm or in-house legal department

- Experience working on cross border transactions or in multiple jurisdictions is a plus
- Experience in the life sciences industry is preferred
- Ability to provide outstanding legal services to business partners in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment
- Experience working on strategic transactions, and/or with startup companies, incubators, or accelerators in the life science industry is preferred
- Knowledge of contest rules and social media is a plus
