Job Description

Law Firm is seeking a skilled attorney with at least 1 year of experience in Workers' Compensation defense to join our team in Overland Park, KS. As a growing and dynamic firm, Law Firm offers a challenging and rewarding work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development. The ideal candidate must be licensed in Kansas and have immediate eligibility for Missouri reciprocity through UBE transfer or years of experience if not already admitted in Missouri.

Essential Job Functions:

- Reviewing medical evidence and records
- Conducting depositions of claimants, physicians, and other parties
- Handling discovery
- Conducting legal research
- Staying up-to-date with changes in the law
- Drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Representing clients in court proceedings
- Communicating with claims representatives
- Monitoring loss run reports and identifying potential issues
- Assisting with accident investigations
- Managing workers' compensation costs for clients
- Compiling and submitting reports to management
- Negotiating settlements on behalf of clients
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- . and licensed in Missouri and Kansas, or immediate eligibility for reciprocity
- Proven experience in Workers' Compensation defense, with general litigation experience being a plus
- Strong understanding of legal principles and practices
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Familiarity with legal research techniques and terminology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word; experience with Time Matters legal software preferred
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, research, and administrative skills
- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Maintaining client and firm confidentiality
