As a Staff Attorney, you will have the opportunity to serve our mission of protecting and defending the rights and dignity of our clients with courage, compassion, and competency. We are committed to providing high-quality representation to our youth and adult indigent clients, and we are looking for dedicated individuals who share our passion for criminal defense. Both full-time and part-time positions are available. Responsibilities: As a Staff Attorney, you will be responsible for effectively communicating with your clients, spotting and anticipating legal issues, writing and reviewing motions, and making sound legal arguments in the courtroom. You will have the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively, and your caseload will grow as you gain experience. New public defenders will initially handle misdemeanor and youth cases, and as they grow professionally, they will have the opportunity to take on more challenging cases, including felonies and other post-conviction matters. Admitted to the New Hampshire Bar, eligible to waive into the New Hampshire Bar with a qualifying Uniform Bar Examination score or qualified for, prepared to take, and pass the New Hampshire Bar Examination in 2024. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Demonstrated commitment to criminal defense. A team-orientated, professional attitude. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. A strong and established work ethic.
