A law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of legal experience to join their team. The Associate Attorney will perform substantive legal functions in client matters, maintain positive contact with clients, participate in marketing efforts, and be responsible for client development. The candidate must have experience in governmental law, municipal law, construction law, and preferably water and utilities work. Strong communication, research, and writing skills are essential.

 

Duties:

  • Perform substantive legal functions in client matters
  • Maintain positive contact with clients and observe confidentiality in legal work
  • Participate in marketing efforts and be responsible for client development
  • Attend public meetings, draft and revise development agreements, and ordinances
  • Handle construction law matters
  • Represent entities in contested case hearing administrative processes
  • Adhere to ethical requirements set forth in the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Complete all required Continuing Legal Education requirements annually
  • Apply analytical skills to conduct complex legal analysis
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary for communication with clients, attorneys, and staff
  • Travel locally and statewide to meet client needs on legal matters
  • Attend client meetings at night as needed
  • Commit to time in excess of 40 hours per week to perform duties
  • Supervise legal support staff
  • Stay up to date with technology and apply acquired knowledge to the position

 

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of legal experience
  • General governmental law experience, including Open Meetings and Public Information Act matters
  • Municipal law experience, including attending public meetings and drafting ordinances
  • Experience in construction law matters
  • Admitted to practice law in Texas
  • Strong communication, research, and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admitted to practice law in Texas
