Staff Attorney- Farmworker Position at Community Legal Services, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona Overview: - Community Legal Services, Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to eliminating poverty-based inequities in the civil justice system. - The organization provides high-quality legal advice, advocacy, and assistance to low-income individuals in Arizona. - They are currently seeking a Staff Attorney with 0-5 years of experience to work on agricultural worker related employment law issues. Responsibilities: - The Staff Attorney will primarily focus on wage, contract, and discrimination issues related to agricultural workers. - This position will require a significant amount of travel and/or after hours work to visit low-income agricultural workers and provide know-your-rights education throughout Arizona. - The majority of the travel will be between Phoenix and San Luis, Arizona, with the possibility of travel to other areas as needed. Qualifications: - Candidates must be a member of the Arizona State Bar or eligible for admission upon hire. - Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in legal services and/or a demonstrated interest in tax, employment, or farmworker law. - The ideal candidate will also have a commitment to economic and racial justice for clients and the community. - Fluency in Spanish is desired.
