Manhattan Legal Services is a part of Legal Services-NYC, the largest civil legal services provider in the nation. Our mission is to fight poverty and seek economic, social, and racial justice for low-income residents of Manhattan through the provision of free legal representation, systemic advocacy, and community education. We handle cases in a wide range of civil legal matters and are committed to training the next generation of public interest lawyers.

Job Description:
Manhattan Legal Services is seeking law students to intern full-time during the summer of 2024. The internship will be a combination of virtual and in-person work, with a commitment of 35 hours per week. The intern will be responsible for client intake, legal research and writing, observation of court proceedings and administrative hearings, and advocacy and representation with administrative agencies. Fluency in Spanish or a Chinese language is desirable, but not required.

Responsibilities:
- Client intake, interviewing, and outreach
- Legal research and writing
- Observation of court proceedings and administrative hearings
- Advocacy and representation with administrative agencies
