The ideal candidate should have a strong background in biomedical or mechanical engineering, coupled with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products. This position requires a JD, admission to the USPTO, high academic achievement, solid law firm or industry experience, and excellent writing and communication skills.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting patent prosecution, including preparing and drafting patent applications
  • Analyzing and responding to office actions from the USPTO
  • Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches
  • Providing legal advice on patent and intellectual property matters
  • Collaborating with inventors and technical experts to understand and evaluate inventions
  • Managing and maintaining a portfolio of patent applications

 

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering; other engineering disciplines with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience
  • High level of academic achievement
  • Solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience
  • Superb writing and communication skills

 

Education:

  • JD from an accredited law school
