Job Overview:

The Associate Attorney will be responsible for various aspects of litigating a file to completion, including depositions, court appearances, brief writing, and client communication. Will conduct legal research, assist with discovery, collaborate with senior attorneys, and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw and other legal databases
  • Assist with discovery, including background research, depositions, document production, and motion practice
  • Review and analyze pre-litigation matters to provide recommendations
  • Prepare for and participate in hearings, trials, and appellate arguments
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in the legal process
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact client cases

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
